When death occurs, what should I do?
Cremation Brazos Valley should be called (979)822-3717 as soon as you receive permission from the proper authorities. Then navigate to our web site at CremationBrazosValley.com and follow the prompts by clicking here.
Who can authorize the cremation?
The legal next of kin or designated agent (if signed and acknowledged by such person prior to death) can authorize the cremation. In cases where there are multiple next of kin, all such persons must authorize the cremation.
Do I have to come to your facility to finalize the paperwork?
No. In order to help keep our costs so affordable, you must complete the required forms and payment either online, by email, fax, or USPS.
Can I view the body after it has been removed from the place of death?
In order to keep our charges as low as possible, a viewing of the body is not included in the basic package. If you desire to view the body, additional charges will apply from the funeral home general price list and special consideration will be required for scheduling.
Where do the cremations take place?
All cremations are performed at Callaway-Jones Cremation Center in Bryan, Texas, a licensed crematory. They are the most reputable and longest standing Crematory in the Brazos Valley and have multiple certified staff with decades of experience.
Can I witness the cremation?
Absolutely. Additional fees will apply from the Funeral Home General Price List and special consideration will be required for scheduling.
How long does it take to complete the cremation and get the ashes back?
Our goal is to complete the cremation as quickly as possible; however, the process is dependent on receiving a cremation permit and signatures from the doctor, justice of the peace, or medical examiner as they are responsible for signing the death certificate. Usually this takes anywhere from 2 to 5 business days. Most cremations are completed within 3-5 business days, and cremation packages that include “expedited (priority) cremation” will be completed first.
When can we have a memorial service?
One of the benefits of cremation is that you can plan a memorial service at your convenience. You are not required to rush through the process, which is so common with traditional burial. If you desire to have a memorial service at the Funeral Center, additional charges will apply from the funeral home general price list.
How do I place an obituary in the newspaper?
All newspapers have a department that handles obituaries. Please keep in mind that we will post a free obituary online, thus eliminating any newspaper charges.
Where do I get certified copies of the deceased’s death certificate?
We give you the first certified copy in our cremation package. The charge is $3 for each additional.
Is there anything else I will be required to buy?
No! There are no hidden fees in our packages.
Can I pre-pay for your services?
Texas law does not allow pre-payment for funeral/cremation services unless it is funded through a funeral insurance plan or trust with a funeral home. However, we encourage you to pre-register your information and requests so that you or your loved one’s wishes can be more easily carried out. Payment can be made once the death occurs. If you must pre-pay, please call Callaway-Jones Funeral Center at (979) 822-3717 and the standard cremation charges will apply from the Funeral Home general price list.
What is your service area?
We service the entire Brazos Valley 7-county region, with no additional mileage fees.
